365-day prepaid mobile plans: who sells them and how they work

365-day prepaid mobile plans let you pay once for a year of service. Of the brands we checked on 2 October 2026, Telstra, Boost Mobile, Everyday Mobile from Woolworths, amaysim, Lebara and Kogan Mobile sell 12-month plans, and Telstra, Boost and amaysim also sell 6-month ones. ALDI Mobile's plans page showed 30-day plans only.

The plans differ more than the headline suggests. Most give you one data allowance for the whole period, Lebara splits its data into monthly blocks, and only some let you bank or roll over what you don't use. This page compares how each works without prices, which change with promotions; each brand's Critical Information Summary has the current price and data.

From each brand's own plan pages and Critical Information Summaries, checked 2 October 2026; networks from our network map (checked 28 September 2026). Optus and Vodafone also sell prepaid, but their long-expiry details weren't readable or confirmed on their sites. We re-check this table each quarter. Prices and data allowances aren't listed because they change with promotions. We have no commercial arrangement with any brand named.

One data pool or monthly blocks?

On most 365-day plans the data is one allowance for the whole period: use more in a busy month and less in a quiet one, as long as it lasts the year. Everyday Mobile, for example, says its data is provisioned upfront.

Lebara works differently: it splits the data and other inclusions evenly into eleven 30-day blocks and a final 35-day block, which behaves more like a monthly plan paid in advance, although unused data can be banked. Neither is better in itself; a pool suits uneven use, and blocks stop you running out early.

Who a 365-day plan suits

Long-expiry plans fit some people better than others:

  • A phone used mostly for calls and texts, such as a second phone or an older relative's phone. See mobile phone plans for seniors.
  • Anyone who wants to pay once a year and forget about recharges.
  • Light or steady data users. If your data use varies a lot, check how the data is split and whether you can bank it.

How to compare 365-day plans and find the cheapest

The cheapest 365-day plan changes with promotions, so compare on these points rather than the headline price:

  • Divide the yearly price by 12 and compare it with monthly plans at a similar data level; our yearly cost calculator does the sums, counting 13 payments for 28-day plans.
  • Check how the data works (one pool or monthly blocks) and what happens to unused data at the end.
  • Check the speed cap: several of these plans cap 5G at 150 Mbps.
  • Check the network covers where you live and travel; the network map shows whose towers each brand uses.
  • Check whether the first-year price is a promotion, and what the plan costs when it renews.

Recharge before the year runs out

Long-expiry plans still expire. Banked or rolled-over data usually depends on recharging before the current period ends: Lebara, for example, banks unused data each time you recharge before expiry. Note the renewal date, or set up automatic recharge if the brand offers it. Prepaid ID checks apply to these plans too, as to any prepaid service; see prepaid vs postpaid.

What to watch for

  • Promotional first-year prices and bonus data that don't apply when the plan renews.
  • Monthly data blocks on some 365-day plans, which work differently from a single pool.
  • Speed caps of 150 Mbps on several long-expiry plans.
  • The expiry date. Recharge before it to keep banked or rolled-over data.

Common questions

What is the cheapest 365 day mobile plan?

It changes with promotions, so we don't name one. Divide each plan's yearly price by 12 and compare it with monthly plans at the same data, check how the data is split and whether unused data is kept, and check the speed cap and network coverage where you live.

Does ALDI have a 365 day mobile plan?

Not when we checked. ALDI Mobile's plans page showed 30-day prepaid plans only on 2 October 2026, including family plans with shared data. Telstra, Boost Mobile and Everyday Mobile from Woolworths sell 12-month plans on Telstra's network.

Which SIM is best for a 1 year plan?

The one on a network with good coverage where you live and travel, with enough data for the year and a data structure that suits you. Compare how the data is split, whether unused data rolls over or banks, the speed cap and the renewal price in each brand's Critical Information Summary.

Can I get a 365-day plan on an eSIM?

Usually. Everyday Mobile says eSIM is available on its long-expiry plans, amaysim's long-expiry plans are eSIM ready, Lebara says all its plans can be used with an eSIM, and Boost and Kogan Mobile offer eSIM too. Check your phone supports eSIM; see our eSIM guide.

Is a 365-day plan cheaper than a monthly plan?

Not always. Compare the yearly price with 12 monthly payments, or 13 payments for a 28-day plan, at a similar amount of data, and check the renewal price if the first year is discounted.
