Synergy is owned by the Government of Western Australia and supplies electricity to more than a million WA customers. If you live on Western Power's network in the South West Interconnected System and use less than 50 MWh a year, which covers almost every home from Kalbarri to Albany and Kalgoorlie, Synergy is your only electricity retailer by law.
Its prices are set by the WA Government. From 1 July 2026 the standard A1 home tariff is 33.2621 c/kWh plus $1.1924 a day. This page explains Synergy's plans, its solar buyback rates and the rebates that come through your Synergy bill.

You cannot switch retailer, but you can switch plan. The A1 plan charges one rate all day and needs no smart meter. Midday Saver charges different rates by time of day, rewarding households that can use more power in the middle of the day. The Electric Vehicle Add On is for EV owners. Compare your own usage pattern against each before assuming A1 is cheapest.
Synergy pays for exported solar under the Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme: 10 c/kWh between 3pm and 9pm and 2 c/kWh at other times, on the first 50 kWh a day. Synergy customers can also get a WA Residential Battery Scheme rebate of up to $1,300 on top of the federal battery discount, provided the battery joins a Synergy virtual power plant.
The WA Government's Energy Assistance Payment, credited through your Synergy bill, is $377.14 a year for eligible Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card and Veterans' Affairs card holders. Register your card in your Synergy account to receive it.
Not if you are a typical household on Western Power's network using under 50 MWh a year. Synergy is the only retailer allowed to supply you. You can choose your gas retailer.
